GENESEO, ILL. (03/24/26) – Springfield Armory® is proud to announce the release of the XD® Mod.4 OSP™ 9mm pistol, the newest generation of the platform that first set the standard for feature-rich striker-fired handguns. Built on a foundation of proven reliability, this newest XD iteration leverages this storied legacy to offer shooters a modern and capable 9mm — and all for an MSRP of just $399.
The XD Mod.4 OSP (which stands for “Optical Sight Pistol”) features a factory-milled slide that employs a plate-based system to accommodate today’s most popular optics, enhancing accuracy and performance. OSP™ plates for the pistol are available for purchase in the Springfield Armory Store.
The pistol’s aggressively textured polymer frame ensures superior control, with the texturing strategically placed on the most important contact points. Additionally, an undercut trigger guard and extended beavertail allow for a high-hand position for superior control. Matching up with the frame are enhanced slide serrations — located both fore and aft — that are deeply cut and aggressive, providing enhanced grip and confident manipulation even in adverse conditions.
In addition to its superb handling characteristics, the XD Mod.4 OSP also features a full set of safety features. The passive grip safety adds a layer of safety and is disengaged with a proper shooting grip. The striker’s position is confirmed by a status indicator located on the rear of the slide. And lastly, a tactile loaded chamber indicator slightly protrudes from the top of the slide when a round is chambered.
The 9mm pistol features a flat-faced trigger to provide a consistent feel throughout the trigger press. In addition, a red fiber optic front sight is paired with a white dot rear, both constructed of steel for durability. A MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail is located on the dustcover portion of the frame. The XD Mod.4 ships with a 16-round stainless steel magazine, and the MSRP is $399. A 10-round variant for restricted locales is also available.
“The original XD established a new standard for striker-fired pistols at its launch 25 years ago,” said Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory. “With this new XD Mod.4 OSP, you have a thoroughly modern and capable update of this proven platform that offers an outstanding level of value for the shooter.”
