There is something very alarming happening in the United States right now. Yes, more terrifying than a pandemic being sold as the next Black Death when it was really more of a particularly nasty flu, based on my experience with it. What I’m talking about is the rise of actual socialism in the US. In particular, the “Democratic Socialist” types such as Graham Platner, Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and now with many others poised to win primaries for reliably blue seats.
And I’m not the only one who is concerned.
Over at the National Shooting Sports Foundation, President Larry Keane expresses his own concerns.
There’s a dark mood creeping into American politics that has even the most die-hard gun control politicians worried. Democrats, typically (but not always) aligned with gun control, are facing the prospect of their political party turning their gaze to complete control.
Enter the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).
These candidates for political office aren’t your grandfather’s Democrats or even limousine liberals. They can’t even honestly call themselves socialists. They’re cosplaying communists who are shredding any pretense of respect or admiration for the U.S. Constitution.
This is what George Orwell warned of in his novel, “1984.” They want complete and total control of the American government, including openly calling for abolishing of the U.S. Constitution, tearing down the balance of powers between the three branches of government, destroying of Department of War and most ominously, seizing the “resources and production.”
Make no mistake. Controlling the firearm and ammunition industry would be on the top of that list.
…
Further, in 2018, the DSA explicitly called for the repeal of the Second Amendment, stating, “… the only way to guarantee that we will dramatically reduce acts of violence involving guns is to remove guns from society…” The DSA called for adoption of a 28th Amendment, repealing the Second Amendment and the prohibiting of “manufacturing, transportation or importation in or into any State, Territory, or possession of the United States for delivery or use therein of pump-action, semi-automatic or automatic firearms.”
I have a lot of concerns about why anyone is taking people like this seriously, but the truth is that they’ve won too much so far to be dismissed. Zohran Mamdani, a DSA candidate, is the mayor of New York, the largest city in the country. DSA candidates have already won primaries, are leading in the polls elsewhere, and are gaining ground. Their strategy of picking off progressive Democrats in safe seats by attacking from the left is paying dividends, and while it’s a far cry from complete control, it’s still concerning.
And yes, they don’t like you having guns, even if they have their own socialist gun clubs.
See, the problem for them is that socialism has an incredibly high rate of turning into outright totalitarianism, no matter what the socialists claim. It’s built into the system, after all. When the state controls the means of production, then controlling the state becomes the goal of any would-be authoritarian. It’s just that simple.
And while you can vote yourself into socialism, you have to shoot your way out of it.
Hence their opposition to the right to keep and bear arms. Look at the guns they want to ban. These are the very ones most useful in opposing a tyrannical state, and that’s not by accident.
While anti-gunners are less than pleased to see their party rolling even farther left, it’s not going to be enough to stop them from working with these people to curtail our gun rights. They’ll make common cause with them, particularly if they get into the various House seats they’re running for. If that happens, there won’t be any attempts at distancing themselves from the commies in sheep’s clothing.
They’ll use them to come for our guns and damn the consequences.
Meanwhile, I’m over here pointing out that this is what the Second Amendment is explicitly written for. A handful of DSA types winning isn’t the end of our world, but if they take over, well, there’s a certain tree that will need a little watering.
Editor’s Note: The radical Left will stop at nothing to enact their radical gun control agenda and strip us of our Second Amendment rights.
