If you’ve been waiting for true high-res thermal performance in a binocular platform, the new QUEST S50R Rangefinding Thermal Binocular just answered that call, loudly.
This isn’t a monocular pretending to be something else. The QUEST S50R is built from the ground up for two-eyed scanning comfort, stability, and long-haul observation. And now it brings a 1280×1024, 60Hz thermal sensor to the party.
At the heart of the S50R is a Nocpix 1280 sensor (12μm, ≤15 mK NETD) paired with a serious 50mm f/1.1 germanium objective lens.
Translation?
Big glass, big performance. More detail. Better contrast. Cleaner identification at distance. The unit boasts a 2,850-yard detection range, giving predator hunters and western big-game spotters plenty of reach.
Native magnification starts at 2X, with digital zoom pushing out to 16X when you need a closer look. But the real magic is in the viewing experience.
Instead of squinting through a single tube all night, the QUEST S50R runs dual 1920×1200 AMOLED displays, delivering full-resolution imagery to each eyepiece. It feels natural. Balanced. Less eye fatigue. More stable in the hand. If you’ve ever glassed for hours in the dark, you already know how big of a deal that is.
The onboard 1,000-yard laser rangefinder gives real-time distance readings, making this optic more than just a scanner. It’s a confirmation tool. Add in Reality+ image processing, multiple color palettes (White Hot, Black Hot, Red Hot, Crimson, Viridian, and more), and independent diopter adjustment, and you’ve got a thermal system that can be dialed exactly how you like it.
Power comes from an internal USB-C rechargeable battery, with backup support from an auxiliary 18650-style battery, so you’re not dead in the water on an all-night hunt.
The S50R ships with an adjustable binocular harness and carries an MSRP of $4,999. And it’s already showing as sold out in early runs.
High-res thermal is here. And it’s finally comfortable to run all night.
If you’re serious about scanning big country after dark, this one deserves a hard look. Learn more HERE.
