Savage Arms is giving its longest-running rifle a proper modernization without trying to reinvent what already works.
The company just unveiled the next generation of the Model 110. And the update is less about flashy marketing and more about refining a platform that’s been doing its job since 1958.
Originally designed by Nicholas L. Brewer, the Model 110 earned its reputation by being accurate, durable, and affordable at a time when bolt guns didn’t need to be complicated to work.
That core philosophy is still intact. What Savage has done here is quietly update the rifle for how people actually shoot today.
The biggest change shooters will notice immediately is the new AccuFit V2 stock system. Built around Savage’s Quick Set Dial (QSD), the system allows tool-free adjustments to length of pull and comb height. No spacers to juggle, no Allen keys in the field.
Some models even allow grip-size changes with small, medium, and large grip modules. This is a welcome move for shooters who don’t fit the mythical “average hand.”
Ergonomically, the new stock borrows heavily from the Axis line. It has a higher cheek piece and steeper grip angle. It’s clearly designed to work better with modern optics and more aggressive shooting positions, without drifting into full chassis-gun territory.
Under the hood, Savage cleaned up the action as well. A new vertical-cut process in the receiver smooths out bolt travel, while an updated bolt head with a stronger extractor claw and dual ejectors improves consistency during feeding and ejection.
It’s the kind of upgrade you don’t notice right away. Until you run the bolt fast and realize everything feels more precise.
The second-generation AccuTrigger has also been refined to eliminate a rare lock-up issue when set extremely light, while keeping the crisp break and user adjustability shooters expect.
Savage also rolled out a new synthetic magazine that remains backward compatible with older 110 rifles, a smart move that won’t punish longtime owners.
With 16 purpose-built models, expanded calibers, left-hand options, and hundreds of SKUs, this isn’t just a facelift.
It’s Savage doubling down on the Model 110 as a do-everything bolt gun for modern hunters and shooters, without forgetting why the rifle mattered in the first place.
