NORTH HAVEN, CT — O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc. is proud to announce the release of the new Mossberg® 590® Bliksem™, a Special Edition pump-action firearm created in collaboration with Christian Craighead and his brand, Ministry of Defence (MOD). Compact, highly functional, and visually striking, this exclusive model blends classic Mossberg reliability with premium design elements and distinctive aesthetics.
The 590 Bliksem features a 14.375-inch heavy-walled barrel, 5+1 capacity, and Mossberg’s trusted bead sight and cylinder bore configuration. Its compact size and maneuverability are complemented by a clean-out magazine tube, twin action bars, ambidextrous safety, anti-jam elevator, and positive steel-to-steel lockup, delivering the smooth, dependable operation expected from the iconic 590 platform.
“Our collaboration with Christian Craighead was a natural fit,” said Richard Kirk, Senior Director of Marketing for Mossberg. “He understands gear that needs to perform in the real world, and together we built a 590 that’s as tough, practical, and unapologetically stylish as the people who rely on it.”
One of the most striking attributes of the 590 Bliksem is its premium finish. The firearm’s metal surfaces are coated in Rhodesian Brushstroke camouflage for enhanced concealment, while the receiver is engraved with the MOD Wolf Logo, used with permission from Field Ethos Journal and MOD. A Flat Dark Earth AfterShock™ bird’s head-style pistol grip – shaped to reduce felt recoil and improve control – pairs with a Flat Dark Earth corncob forend featuring a real leather strap with the Mossberg debossed logo. A Picatinny rail sits on top of the receiver for the mounting of optics. Each firearm also includes a 6-shot shotshell carrier card attachment for added on-gun ammunition capacity.
“Mossberg understands function over flash, and that’s why this collaboration worked,” commented Christian Craighead. “We designed the 590 Bliksem to be practical, durable, intuitive and some might say most importantly, cool – qualities that matter far more than marketing lines. It’s a solid bit of hardware.”
Designed to be easy to handle, quick to operate, and convenient to store and maintain, the 590 Bliksem stands apart as a functional collector’s piece and a field-ready workhorse. This Special Edition is available for a limited time.
