Springfield Armory is adding a little more precision to its Garrison lineup with the release of the new 1911 Garrison Target models in both .45 ACP and 9mm.
At a glance, these stick pretty close to the classic 1911 formula (steel frame, blued finish, wood grips) but with one key upgrade aimed at shooters who want to tighten things up on paper: fully adjustable rear sights.
That’s really the story here.
Springfield took its existing Garrison platform and added a windage- and elevation-adjustable rear sight, giving shooters the ability to dial things in without swapping parts or heading to a gunsmith. The rear sight is blacked out and serrated to cut glare, paired with a simple white-dot front.
It’s not flashy, but it’s functional.
The rest of the gun stays true to what you’d expect from a traditional 1911. You’ve got forged carbon steel slide and frame, a 5-inch match-grade stainless barrel, and standard single-stack capacities: 7+1 in .45 ACP and 9+1 in 9mm.
Grips are checkered wood, keeping that classic look while still giving you a decent hold. And overall, the design leans more toward “range gun” or “target shooter” than anything built for carry.
Which makes sense.
Between the adjustable sights and full-size steel frame, this isn’t trying to be a lightweight or modernized defensive pistol. It’s more about giving shooters a straightforward, no-nonsense 1911 that can be tuned for accuracy right out of the box.
MSRP lands at $999 for both calibers. That puts it squarely in that mid-range 1911 category. Accessible, but still built with the materials people expect from a traditional setup.
No major redesign here. No attempt to reinvent the platform.
Just a classic 1911 with one meaningful upgrade that a lot of shooters will actually use. Learn more HERE.
